Join us as Stephen Vick shares his remarkable new book Soul Consciousness: A New Vision of Community Empowerment and Cultural Transformation. Instructive, inspiring, and drawn from Vick’s 25 years as a social worker and educator, Soul Consciousness offers a blueprint for harnessing the power of community members in solving complex problems like crime, homelessness, drug abuse, and unemployment. Featuring interviews with community leaders from across the country along with Vick’s own reflections and anecdotes, Soul Consciousness explores how greater spirituality and a shared sense of humanity can fuel real change and has been praised by Harvard University’s Roberto G. Gonzales as “required reading for youth workers,… policy makers, elected officials, and anyone who cares about families and communities.” Vick will be joined in conversation by Miller (they/them) – a change agent featured in the book – and following their talk, attendees can participate in a discussion with other community leaders profiled by Vick. Copies of Soul Consciousness will also be available to purchase.
